Oncology Administration Hoag Health System - 4.0 Newport Beach, CA Job Details Full-time 19 hours ago Qualifications Research design Scientific publications Scientific and medical presentations experience Bachelor's degree Scientific protocols Medical laboratory work Experimental design Participating in conferences Research data analysis Research & development Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Translational Scientist contributes to the development and execution of molecular and cellular biology studies to support the Hoag Family Cancer Institute's Translational Genomics and Immune Profiling initiatives. Strong translational research experience with hands-on expertise in leading studies utilizing state-of-the-art molecular, genetic, and cellular biology approaches to clinical therapeutics and diagnostics development. Works closely with a team of dedicated discovery scientists to perform laboratory-based research, providing both scientific and technical expertise. Interprets and presents findings and functions as an integral team member advancing hospital programs. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design, oversee and/or execute research and research strategy Manage laboratory resources and utilization. Leading Translational team focused on ensuring that key biological questions are investigated and making crucial research decisions Integrate a deep understanding of cancer biology, immunology, and other translational operations Clinical support on study implementation teams. Provides subject matter expertise, clinical science support/functional representation for collaborative studies Successfully execute and document translational research lab procedures and protocols Write and/or review policies, procedures, collaborative abstracts, posters, grants, and content for scientific meetings, conferences, and publications. Develop and adhere to IRB approved and HIPAA compliant protocols Biospecimen collection/handling including human blood and fresh tissue, to include preparation of tissues/materials, prepare buffers, solutions, and chemicals, processing of bulk tissue for cell sorting, culture, and freezing Maintain rigorous documentation and tracking information for all patient samples and experimental procedures Provide technical knowledge and guidance. Train laboratory assistants and other personnel.
Education and Experience Required:
BS in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology (or a comparable biological science) Six plus (6+) years of relevant experience Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing studies. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate in multidisciplinary project teams, including solid verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in the use of software tools to support data capture, analysis, and presentation. Be a critical contributor to translational research and to multi-disciplinary research and development project teams. Manage and analyze experimental data and present results at internal meetings and scientific conferences. Develop high-quality protocols and outputs and maintain detailed documentation of procedures and data to comply with internal standard operating procedures and other quality criteria, where necessary.
Preferred:
MS in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology (or a comparable biological science) with 1-2 years of relevant experience. 1-2 years of relevant industry experience in Translational Sciences/Translational Research is preferred.
