Job Description
Select Sires Internship Select Sires seeks motivated interns for 2027 to support projects in bovine genetics, reproduction, and herd performance. Interns will assist with data collection and analysis, help implement reproductive technologies, and support field and lab activities. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals, visit farms, and help evaluate herd productivity while following strict animal welfare and safety standards. This internship offers hands-on experience, mentoring, and exposure to industry-leading genetic solutions in a growth-focused, innovative environment. Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting on bovine genetics and herd performance Support reproductive technology projects and lab or field activities as assigned Help maintain accurate records, databases, and documentation for research and herd management Collaborate with genetics, reproduction, and field teams on ongoing trials and projects Participate in farm visits, herd evaluations, and customer support activities with senior staff Prepare presentations, summaries, and visuals to communicate project findings Follow all animal welfare, biosecurity, and safety protocols Contribute ideas for process improvements and innovation within assigned projects Data collection and analysis Basic statistics and spreadsheet skills Animal science knowledge Dairy and beef cattle handling fundamentals Laboratory techniques for reproduction or genetics Recordkeeping and database entry Technical writing and documentation Presentation and communication skills Familiarity with herd management software Understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare protocols Pursuit of or recent completion of a degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Veterinary Science, or related field Low-stress livestock handling training (preferred) Laboratory safety training (preferred) Valid driver's license for farm visits (preferred)
