Medical Geneticist Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology UConn Health The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UConn Health is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Medical Geneticist who is board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) to join our collaborative and growing Genetics Division. This faculty position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive clinical genetics services while contributing to the educational mission of the UConn School of Medicine. The Genetics Division provides comprehensive, patient-centered evaluation, diagnosis, management, treatment, and follow-up care for children, adults, and families with known or suspected genetic conditions. Care is delivered through both in-person and telehealth services, expanding access to specialized genetics care across Connecticut and the surrounding region. The multidisciplinary team includes two medical geneticists, a part time metabolic dietitian, one general genetic counselor, three prenatal genetic counselors, two hereditary cancer genetic counselors, and a genetic counselor specializing in teratology. This position includes a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor within the UConn School of Medicine. Position Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Provide comprehensive clinical genetics services, primarily in the outpatient setting, including evaluation, diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with suspected or confirmed genetic conditions. Deliver patient care through a combination of in-person and telehealth visits. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic management, surveillance, and counseling for individuals and families affected by genetic disorders. Serve as a consultant to referring physicians and healthcare providers and maintain strong collaborative relationships with community and academic partners. Participate in a shared call schedule to provide coverage for urgent genetics consultations and a limited metabolic patient population. Collaborate with division leadership to develop and expand clinical programs and initiatives that align with the mission and strategic goals of UConn Health. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical record documentation and clinical billing practices. Teaching and Academic Responsibilities As a faculty member of the UConn School of Medicine, the successful candidate will: Participate in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, genetic counseling trainees, and other healthcare learners. Provide direct supervision and mentorship to trainees in the outpatient clinical setting. Contribute to departmental conferences, lectures, case discussions, and educational programs. Participate in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education activities as appropriate. Attend and actively participate in division, department, and institutional meetings. Serve on departmental, institutional, quality improvement, and other committees as appropriate. Qualifications . Required Qualifications MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent. Board certification or board eligibility in Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut at the time of appointment.
