USDA NIFA NEXTGEN
Program . The successful candidate will conduct innovative research in entomology while contributing to the training, mentorship, and professional development of NEXTGEN undergraduate and graduate scholars. This position will support faculty with laboratory- and field-based research, student training and advisement, experiential learning activities, and the development of independent research projects.
Responsibilities Student Mentorship & Advisement:
Assist faculty with laboratory- and field-based research activities. Provide direct mentorship, academic advisement, and experiential learning opportunities for NEXTGEN undergraduate and graduate scholars.
Research & Scholarly Activities:
Conduct innovative research, develop independent research projects, publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and present research at regional, national, and international scientific conferences.
USDA NEXTGEN
Program Coordination:
Support the Project Director in coordinating student recruitment, academic support, leadership and professional development, entrepreneurship training, internship preparation, and other program activities.
Reporting & Compliance:
Assist in preparing project reports, tracking student progress, and collecting performance metrics required by USDA NIFA, FAMU, and the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences.
Outreach & Communications:
Assist in planning and implementing outreach initiatives and communication strategies to promote the NEXTGEN Program among prospective students, parents, industry partners, and the broader community.
Travel & Logistics:
Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for NEXTGEN scholars, faculty, and project personnel attending training programs, experiential learning opportunities, consortium meetings, and professional conferences.
Program Support:
Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and objectives of the
USDA NIFA NEXTGEN
Program. Qualifications Ph.D. in Entomology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated experience conducting laboratory and/or field-based research. Record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet established deadlines. Willingness to travel to field sites, partner institutions, and professional meetings as required
Pay:
$56,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
