North Chicago, Illinois job type: Contract salary: $49.00 - 54.13 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelors responsibilities: Conduct laboratory experimentation to develop, optimize, and scale up cell culture and bioprocess operations. Operate and optimize stirred-tank bioreactor systems, supporting scale-up from 100 mL to 15+ L cultures. Evaluate and refine feeding processes, including continuous perfusion feed systems. Perform daily bioprocess checks and maintenance, tracking parameters like glucose, lactate, cell viability, and proliferation. Execute bioassays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescent imaging to characterize secretome products. Assist in sample preparation, collaborator workflows, and the analysis of proteomic, lipidomic, and metabolomic data. Deliver regular progress updates through written technical reports and oral presentations.qualifications:
Required Skills Degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, or a related scientific discipline (BS + 4+ years, MS + 2+ years, or PhD + 0+ years of experience). Strong fundamentals in core cell biology principles. Direct hands-on laboratory experience with cell culture work. Ability to design and execute multiple parallel laboratory experiments efficiently. Adaptability to adjust priorities and workflows in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills Practical experience operating and optimizing stirred-tank bioreactors. Direct background in bioprocess optimization, feeding strategies, and scale-up parameters. Hands-on bioassay experience (ELISA, flow cytometry, immunofluorescent imaging). Familiarity with continuous perfusion feed systems and monitoring analytical metrics (glucose/lactate).
