Dr. Maliha Zahid's lab is seeking a Research Fellow. Responsibilities for this post-doctoral research fellow will include: Working with novel cell penetrating peptides that target the lungs. We have a family of lung targeting peptides that target different cell types. Small animal (mouse) experiments including tail vein injections, organ harvest for ex-vivo IVIS imaging, cryoembedding, cryosectioning, immunostaining, and confocal microscopy. experiments. Establishing two-and three-hit mouse models of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, perform echocardiography in mice, as well as perform RNA extraction for downstream RNA sequencing., etc. independently. Maintaining lab notebooks, updating protocols, summarizing data, and presenting at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and national/international meetings. Assisting with the upkeep of the laboratory including equipment maintenance and inventory and ordering of supplies/reagents. Assisting with manuscript preparation, submission, etc. as a lead author, and assisting with preparation of grants. Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
