Essential Job Duties:
The department of Philosophy and Religious Studies invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in STS, empirical neuro ethics, or ethics of AI at the Neuro Computational Ethics Research Group, in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, beginning January 2027.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
developing and experimentally testing VR simulations for moral decision making
broadly promoting AI ethics scholarship
The position entails a specific research agenda that aligns with activities described in Dr. Veljko Dubljevic's NEH AI Center grant.
Departmental Required Skills:
Editorial work experience
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Doctoral project/dissertation that demonstrates ability to perform close readings of texts.
Experience as instructor of record preferred (though experience as teaching assistant acceptable).
Preference given to candidates who incorporate study of state-of-the-art research in AI ethics into their scholarship and/or teaching.
Training/education:
Experience mentoring undergraduate students desired. Motivation to teach, mentor, conduct and publish research and/or scholarship expected.
