Quinzii, at the H. Houston Merritt Clinical Research Center for the study of Neuromuscolar Disorders, in the Department of Neurology, at Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY. Responsibilities The postdoc will be involved in projects focused on understanding primary mitochondrial pathology and the contribution of mitochondrial abnormalities to synapsis dysfunction in neurodegeneration using in vitro and in vivo models. The postdoc will perform molecular and biochemical studies, including immunoistochemistry, RNA interference, transfections, spectrophotometric assessments of mitochondrial respiratory chain enzyme activities and Seahorse Analyzer assays, CoQ measurement, oxidative stress analysis, western blots and qPCR. Under the supervision of Dr. Quinzii, they will analyze relevant literature, design and conduct experiments, analyze data and write manuscripts for publication. They will give oral presentations of research at internal (Columbia), national, and international meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Physiology, or a related field.
