Job Description Required Qualifications:
(as evidenced by an attached resume) Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or a closely related field. Ability to demonstrate professional competence in research activities; with research experience in a laboratory setting.Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in wetlab (cell culture, western blot, RT-qPCR, cloning). Candidates with a strong background in bacteria pathogenesis, multi-omics data analysis, and mammalian cell culture. Have a strong first author publication. Recent graduates with a background in biological sciences, a history of academic productivity, and excellent references.Brief Description of Duties:
The Liu Laboratory at Stony Brook University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to join our new and growing group. Research in the Liu Lab explores how bacteria manipulate host organelle structures to understand host-pathogen interactions and cellular defense. We use a multidisciplinary approach that integrates cellular and molecular biology, proteomics and phosphoproteomics, and in vitro/in vivo infection models to uncover how organelles such as the centrosomes and cilia contribute to host defense. The postdoc will receive comprehensive training in a broad range of experimental techniques, including cell culture, molecular and biochemical assays, imaging, and infection models. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop strong research skills, contribute to high-impact projects, and work closely with the PI in a collaborative and supportive environment. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Liu , the incumbent will perform the following duties:- Protein, RNA and DNA preparation and analyses; mammalian cell culture with sterile techniques.
- Data analysis and participate in manuscript writing for publication.
- Participate in weekly lab meetings, and other duties/projects as assigned.
- Assist in ordering supplies to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
- Regular maintenance of lab equipment.
- Miscellaneous lab duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
