Build our future together: We are looking for a motivated Scientist to join the Genotyping Group at VelociGene. As a Scientist, your primary responsibility will be genotyping complex genetically modified models utilizing state-of-the-art technology platforms to support our R D and Technology Development efforts for drug discovery. Location:
Tarrytown, NY United States Discover your role: Processing biopsy samples for downstream extraction and genotyping analysis. Using high-throughput automation for DNA isolation from embryonic stem cells and rodent biopsies. Strategically selecting and implementing genotyping methodologies to establish workflow priorities. Operating applications that create worklists for qPCR assay retrieval and bulk master mix preparation on Hamilton Liquid Handler. Orchestrating multiple processes to begin the aliquoting of qPCR master mixes. Setting up complex qPCR reactions across multiple Beckman i7 Liquid Handlers. Initiating qPCR using the state-of-the-art customized cycling platform. Collecting, organizing, and analyzing raw data files with custom data analysis tools. Reporting genotyping results through LIMS and initiating discussions with collaborators if needed. Performing conventional PCR or Southern Blotting Techniques as a genotyping alternative to qPCR. Maintaining comprehensive sample management systems and assay inventory effectively.
This role requires:
Can multi-task assignments and operate effectively in the face of ambiguity and change. Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, or related biological sciences with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Are highly motivated with a genuine curiosity for rodent genetics. Maintain scientific rigor and familiarity with best practices. Leverage automation to drive scientific advancement. Drive innovation by developing novel approaches and optimizing existing platforms to increase efficiency and data quality.
Preferred:
Prior experience in a screening laboratory and/or automation laboratory.
