Job Description

Environment & Archaeology , a woman-owned small business, is seeking a full-time Field Biologist in our Knoxville, Tennessee office. The Biologist will be responsible for environmental surveys and permitting work throughout the eastern and southern United States. This position is open to qualified personnel with greater than two years of experience. The Critical Qualifications the applicant must meet are as follows:
  • Training, through class work or field experience, in woody and herbaceous plant identification, preferably within the southeast and the Ohio River Valley.
  • Experience and previous training related to TN Hydrologic Determination, ORAM, KY-WRAM, QHEI, and HHEI is preferred.
  • The willingness and ability to travel and perform field work year-round under both good and adverse weather conditions. Work may occur within nearly all states east of the Mississippi River.
  • The physical ability to perform surveys in remote areas ranging from easy to difficult terrain and sometimes limited access.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS, and Trimble GPS, as well as MS Word, Excel, and Adobe is preferred.
  • Experience and previous training with erosion and sediment control implementation and monitoring (i.
e., TDEC Level I/ Level
II, CPESC
) is preferred. We will consider all applicants with two years of field experience to experienced Project Managers. The successful applicant will perform tasks including wetland and stream delineations, stream and habitat assessments, support endangered species surveys, conduct stream/wetland restoration monitoring, complete erosion and sediment control inspection, and support report and permit preparation for a variety of project activities.
