Job Description

Job Summary BioStone Animal Health is seeking an entry-level Animal Health Laboratory Research Assistant to support veterinary diagnostic testing, customer service, sample processing, billing, and research and development activities. This is a hands-on position that combines routine diagnostic laboratory work with customer support, administrative responsibilities, and R&D projects. Diagnostic testing is generally performed on scheduled testing days. During periods of lower diagnostic testing volume, the employee will assist with research and development activities, product testing, assay evaluation, reagent preparation, data collection, and other laboratory projects. Training will be provided for laboratory procedures, including ELISA and PCR testing. Prior ELISA or PCR experience is not required. Primary duties include receiving and processing animal samples, performing diagnostic tests, answering customer calls, contacting customers, preparing invoices, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with product-development and research projects. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, comfortable following established procedures, and willing to assist with a variety of laboratory, research, customer-service, and administrative responsibilities. Responsibilities Perform routine ELISA, PCR, and other animal health laboratory tests Receive, inspect, label, accession, and organize incoming animal samples Enter sample, customer, and testing information accurately Prepare samples, reagents, controls, and laboratory materials for testing Record test results, observations, and quality-control information Package and store samples according to laboratory procedures Follow established testing procedures and laboratory quality standards Assist with research and development projects during non-testing days and periods of lower diagnostic volume Answer incoming customer phone calls professionally and courteously Contact customers regarding sample information, testing requests, missing submission details, results, billing, and follow-up questions Assist customers with general questions about sample submission and available laboratory services Prepare invoices and assist with customer billing and payment records Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Associate degree, college coursework, or previous experience in biology, animal science, veterinary technology, laboratory work, or a related area is helpful but not required No previous ELISA or PCR experience is required; training will be provided Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate work Ability to follow written instructions, protocols, and established procedures Ability to learn routine laboratory techniques Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, and basic office software Professional and courteous telephone communication skills Comfortable contacting customers regarding samples, testing, results, and billing Ability to maintain organized laboratory, customer, and research records Ability to move between laboratory, research, customer-service, and administrative responsibilities Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to work independently after training and as part of a small team Willingness to work with animal-derived samples, laboratory reagents, and disinfectants Preferred but Not Required Previous experience in a laboratory, veterinary clinic, animal care setting, medical office, research setting, or customer-service role Familiarity with livestock, veterinary diagnostics, or animal health Experience with data entry, spreadsheets, invoicing, or customer billing Experience using pipettes or other basic laboratory equipment Experience maintaining organized records or documenting procedures Interest in laboratory testing, product development, or applied animal health research Schedule Full-time, non-exempt position Approximately 40 hours per week Regular weekday schedule Onsite position in Southlake, Texas Diagnostic testing is performed on scheduled testing days, with research, product-development, and laboratory-support activities performed during other periods About BioStone Animal Health BioStone Animal Health provides veterinary diagnostic products, laboratory testing services, and biological solutions for the animal health industry. In addition to routine diagnostic testing, BioStone supports the research, development, evaluation, and commercialization of animal health diagnostic products and related technologies.
Pay:
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
