Postdoctoral Scholar in Stem Cell and Craniofacial Skeletal Biology Position Details Position Description A fully funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Hong in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Our NIH-funded research program investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating craniofacial skeletal development, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) homeostasis, cartilage regeneration, and skeletal mechanobiology. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment with opportunities to work alongside experts in stem cell biology, craniofacial development, bioengineering, genomics, biomechanics, and regenerative medicine.
Research Areas Projects may include:
Craniofacial mesenchymal stem cell biology Cartilage and bone regeneration Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) biology and osteoarthritis Mouse genetic models and lineage tracing Single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics Skeletal mechanobiology and functional loading models Gene therapy and biologic drug development Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine Translational studies utilizing human and animal tissues Successful candidates will possess experience with one or more of the following: Mouse models, mouse breeding, and animal surgery Histology and immunohistochemistry Cell culture and stem cell biology Molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, Western blotting) Flow cytometry Confocal microscopy Single-cell genomics Bioinformatics and transcriptomic analysis Gene delivery systems Musculoskeletal or cartilage biology Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Salary range: $5,705/monthly Qualifications Qualifications PhD, DDS/PhD, DMD/PhD, MD/PhD in biology or related fields Strong publication record Instructions Interested applicants should submit: Curriculum vitae Brief statement of research interests and career goals Contact information for three references Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
