A primary focus of this position will be examining the generation, localization, and function of lung-resident germinal-center and memory B cell responses following influenza infection in mice. The candidate will also have opportunities to investigate how mouse and human B cells process and present different classes of antigens to T cells, using cell-culture and microscopy-based approaches. Together, these projects provide an opportunity to connect the cellular mechanisms operating within B cells with their effects on tissue-level immune responses. Experience in using microscopy to study intracellular localization of proteins or using biochemical approaches to study cell biology would be highly preferred. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigator to develop research questions, design and perform experiments, and prepare findings for publication and presentation. The laboratory provides a collaborative and supportive training environment to develop expertise in mucosal immunology, B cell biology, respiratory infection, antigen presentation, and cellular imaging.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
