Job Description Summary:

Aviagen Turkeys Inc. is hiring a Lab Assistant in Lewisburg, WV. The goal of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the laboratory quality system. This individual will coordinate the activities required to meet ISO technical requirements; monitor and advise on how the system is performing; as well as distribute reports regarding performance. They will liaise with other internal Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance. This position will report to the microbiologist. Ensure compliance with current ISO standards Collect and manage data to promote quality Write, maintain and update Quality and Technical manuals Schedule and implement necessary validations to obtain and maintain ISO compliance Perform technical audits and oversee improvements to laboratory processes and procedures Audit laboratory suppliers to ensure they meet technical requirements Support veterinary diagnostic testing as required Provide technical support to ensure that information on new and emerging diagnostic techniques and methodologies are reviewed and shared with lab and vet teams Create protocols and provide training with new diagnostic methods Coordinate implementation of proficiency testing programs, report results and make recommendations for improvements Perform other duties in the course of their work which may be required

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent required 4 years previous quality experience within a laboratory or 4 years ISO and auditing experience is preferred Analytical approach to problem solving Technical skills to include laboratory diagnostics; microbiology and molecular diagnostic experience a plus Good computer skills Report writing skills, to include quality manual content Good communication, organizational, and leadership skills Effective time management and ability to prioritize objectives Must be self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually Valid driver's license required Some travel will be required We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
