Position Overview HydroGeoSense, Inc. is seeking a careful and dependable Lab Technician to support the Analytical Chemist / Lab Manager and the company's geochemical and metallurgical testing programs. The technician will assist with sample tracking, solution and reagent preparation, sample digestion, routine wet chemistry, instrument support, and laboratory documentation for heap leach optimization and related research projects. This is a hands-on laboratory position. The successful candidate must be comfortable following detailed procedures, performing repetitive tasks accurately, working with acids and other laboratory chemicals, and maintaining clean and organized work areas. Work will be performed under established Standard Operating Procedures and the direction of the Lab Manager. The technician is expected to identify and promptly report unusual results, equipment problems, safety concerns, and departures from approved procedures. Key Responsibilities Receive, label, log, organize, and track geologic, hydrometallurgical, and environmental samples through the analytical workflow. Prepare samples and analytical solutions by weighing, diluting, filtering, digesting, and transferring materials in accordance with approved procedures. Prepare reagents, calibration standards, blanks, spikes, and quality-control samples using accurate volumetric and gravimetric techniques. Perform routine wet-chemistry analyses and measurements, including titrations and pH, conductivity, and oxidation-reduction potential measurements, as assigned. Support ICP-OES analyses by organizing sample batches, loading autosampler racks, monitoring consumables, and cleaning sample-introduction components under the Lab Manager's direction. Follow required QA/QC procedures and verify that blanks, standards, spikes, and duplicates are included and correctly identified. Record preparation details, instrument readings, observations, and results accurately in laboratory worksheets, logs, and electronic files. Perform routine cleaning, verification, and basic maintenance of balances, pipettes, pH meters, auto-titrators, glassware, and other laboratory equipment. Inspect supplies and reagents, monitor inventory and expiration dates, and notify the Lab Manager before critical materials require replacement. Wash and store laboratory glassware and maintain orderly benches, fume hoods, sample-storage areas, and shared workspaces. Segregate, label, store, and dispose of laboratory wastes in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety requirements. Report sample discrepancies, failed quality-control checks, equipment malfunctions, spills, and other deviations promptly to the Lab Manager. Coordinate with scientists, engineers, and other laboratory staff to keep assigned work on schedule and prevent sample mix-ups or processing delays. Participate in training, laboratory meetings, safety briefings, and continuous improvement of laboratory practices. Qualifications Associate degree, technical certificate, or college coursework in chemistry, laboratory technology, environmental science, geochemistry, or a related field is preferred. Relevant laboratory experience may be considered in place of formal education. Previous hands-on experience in an analytical, environmental, geochemical, or metallurgical laboratory is preferred. Candidates with relevant laboratory coursework and a strong willingness to learn will also be considered. Basic knowledge of wet chemistry and safe use of balances, pipettes, volumetric glassware, hot plates, and common laboratory instruments. Experience with sample digestion, titration, auto-titrators, or ICP-OES sample preparation is desirable but not required. Ability to follow written SOPs, perform calculations accurately, and complete repetitive tasks without losing attention to detail. Ability to maintain clear, complete, and traceable laboratory records and enter data accurately in Excel or similar software. Strong organization, time-management, and communication skills, including the ability to manage several assigned tasks and ask questions when instructions or results are unclear.
