Job Title:
Chemical Technician Job Description This temporary Chemical Technician position provides hands-on support for chemical feed systems at a customer site in Baileyville, ME. The role covers a medical leave for an estimated four months, with the possibility of a slightly longer duration. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and chemical feed equipment, ensure accurate dosing, and support inventory management. The position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Responsibilities Travel to the customer location daily to perform service work according to a typical 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and chemical feed equipment to ensure reliable operation. Assist the account manager with inventory management by performing chemical feed checks and recording inventory levels accurately. Verify that chemical dosing is correct and adjust feed rates as required to meet operational and safety standards. Communicate issues, corrective actions, and service findings clearly to the account manager and document them thoroughly. Maintain detailed records of all service visits, including technical issues encountered, corrective actions taken, and parts used. Prioritize daily and weekly workload in coordination with the manager to support an efficient and cost-effective preventive maintenance schedule. Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues using effective problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques. Respond to occasional emergency service calls as directed, which may occur during nights, weekends, or holidays. Build and maintain strong working relationships with customer personnel and represent the company in a professional and respectful manner. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in loud, hot, and dirty environments. Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel to manage communications, record data, and prepare basic documentation. Essential Skills Demonstrated technical aptitude in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Strong safety mindset with consistent adherence to safety procedures in industrial environments. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, operate, and repair pumps and related equipment. Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing mechanical and system issues. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication, recordkeeping, and basic reporting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and internal team members. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and remain self-motivated and results-driven. Attention to detail in performing chemical feed checks, recording inventory, and documenting service activities. High school diploma orGED. 0-2
years of relevant experience. Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfort working in loud, hot, and dirty industrial environments. Experience with basic lab techniques related to chemical handling or testing. Prior exposure to chemical feed systems, pumps, or industrial maintenance is beneficial. Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs is an advantage. Ability to build strong customer relationships and represent the organization professionally. Flexibility to respond to rare emergency service calls outside standard hours when required. Why Work Here? You will travel locally to the customer location to perform hands-on service work and occasionally respond to emergency calls, which may occur at night, on weekends, or on holidays. The position requires consistent use of safety practices and appropriate protective equipment while performing technical tasks and moving between different areas of the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Baileyville, ME. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr.
