Job Description

Position Overview HydroGeoSense, Inc. is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist with a proven track record in sample digestion, elemental quantification , and data quality assurance in support of geochemical research and heap leach optimization projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced in inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) , and will develop strong skills in laboratory operations, SOP development, and QA/QC implementation . This is not an entry-level position. The successful candidate will be expected to operate independently, support active research projects, and contribute immediately to lab operations. You will play a key role in supporting our geochemical and metallurgical testing programs through accurate, reproducible, and high-quality analytical data. Key Responsibilities:
Plan and control daily analytical workflow to effectively utilize resources without direction. Perform sample digestion of geologic, hydrometallurgical, and environmental matrices using wet chemistry techniques. Conduct elemental quantification using ICP-OES , ensuring accuracy and consistency. Process, validate, and interpret analytical data, including statistical analysis and outlier detection. Apply advanced problem‑solving strategies to identify root causes of analytical discrepancies, troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues, and develop scientifically sound corrective actions that ensure data integrity and method reliability. Review, develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all analytical techniques, auto-titrators, and sample handling protocols. Ensure all analyses meet rigorous QA/QC standards, including use of blanks, standards, spikes, and duplicates. Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation, perform routine troubleshooting, and coordinate service as needed. Keep track of parts, material, supplies, and equipment required to ensure continuous operation. Maintain organized lab records, analytical logs, and electronic data archives in accordance with internal documentation standards. Work closely with other team members to ensure experiments and deliverables are completed on schedule. Participate in lab meetings, safety briefings, and collaborative problem-solving. Support training and onboarding of junior staff or interns, as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Geochemistry, Environmental Science , or a related field. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining ICP-OES instruments in a professional lab setting. Strong knowledge of wet chemistry , sample digestion techniques , and trace element analysis. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement QA/QC protocols and SOPs . Proficient in data analysis and visualization using Excel and/or statistical software. Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and documentation.
