    VOC & GC/MS
    Chemist provides technical and operational leadership for VOC and specialty analytical services at AmSpec Environmental Services' Camarillo, California laboratory. The position is responsible for analytical data review and approval, GC/MS troubleshooting, method development, and mentoring of laboratory staff, and works cross-functionally with operations, quality, and business development to support laboratory growth and performance. P ri mary Duties and Responsibilities
    • P ovide technical leadership for VOC and specialty analytical services
    • R view and approve analytical data, reports, and QA/QC documentation
    • T oubleshoot GC/MS systems, analytical issues, and challenging sample matrices
    • T ain, mentor, and develop junior chemists and laboratory analysts
    • D velop, validate, and implement new analytical methods and services
    • I prove laboratory efficiency, quality, turnaround times, and profitability

    • B S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or related field
    • 7 years of environmental laboratory experience
    • D monstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience
    • S rong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
    • C mmercial environmental laboratory experience strongly preferred P re ferred Experience
    • E A TO-15 and TO-17
    • V C analysis by GC/MS
    • V por intrusion investigations
    • I door air, ambient air, and soil gas testing
    • T ermal desorption and sorbent tube technologies
    • H bridSS® sampling and analysis
    • B ttle Vac® whole-air sampling
    • P ssive sampling technologies
    • M thod development and validation
    • E vironmental laboratory QA/QC programs
    • G ×GC and petroleum hydrocarbon characterization (preferred) R eq uired Experience W or king Conditions
    • P imarily an on-site laboratory environment in Camarillo, CA with regular exposure to standard laboratory chemicals, solvents, and equipment
    • S andard laboratory PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves) required in designated areas
    • S andard full-time schedule with occasional flexibility to support sample receipt, holding-time, or turnaround deadlines

    • A ility to stand/walk for extended periods while working at the bench and with instrumentation
