Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cosmetic Chemist to join our innovative research and development team. In this dynamic role, you will lead the formulation and development of cutting-edge cosmetic products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Your expertise in chemistry, materials engineering, and pharmaceutical research will drive the creation of impactful skincare, haircare, and beauty formulations that delight consumers worldwide. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence product development from concept through scale-up, working at the forefront of cosmetic science. Duties Lead the design and development of new cosmetic formulations utilizing advanced knowledge of organic chemistry, formulation chemistry, and polymer synthesis Conduct comprehensive laboratory experiments to optimize product stability, efficacy, and sensory attributes using laboratory techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography (including high-performance liquid chromatography), and materials analysis Manage chemical scale-up projects from laboratory bench to manufacturing scale while ensuring adherence to CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) and FDA regulations Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality control, regulatory affairs, and research teams to ensure seamless product development and regulatory compliance Develop innovative formulations incorporating polymers and other materials to enhance product performance and consumer appeal Design experiments using statistical tools like design of experiments (DOE) to improve formulation robustness and process efficiency Maintain detailed documentation of all laboratory activities, analytical data, and experimental results in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards Requirements Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field; advanced degree preferred Extensive laboratory experience in cosmetic or pharmaceutical research & development with a focus on formulation chemistry and analytical chemistry techniques Proven expertise in chemical synthesis, drug discovery processes, and drug formulation development Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks including FDA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), CGMP standards, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance Experience with spectroscopy (such as UV-Vis, IR), chromatography (HPLC), materials analysis, and laboratory instruments used in materials engineering Demonstrated ability to lead chemical scale-up projects from lab to production while maintaining quality standards Excellent cross-functional communication skills to coordinate with teams across research, manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory departments Familiarity with intellectual property law related to cosmetic formulations is a plus Passion for innovation in cosmetic science combined with a meticulous approach to experimental design and documentation Join us in shaping the future of beauty by developing innovative products that inspire confidence and enhance lives!
