Job Description

Clean Harbors is seeking a CleanPack Chemist to safely collect, categorize, and package chemical and hazardous waste at customer sites and company facilities. In this field-based role, you will identify unknown materials, perform basic testing, complete accurate labels and manifests, and prepare shipments for transport in compliance with DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations. You will operate company vehicles and equipment, follow strict safety protocols, and collaborate with operations teams to support environmental cleanup and disposal projects while maintaining Clean Harbors' safety-first, integrity-driven culture. Responsibilities Collect, identify, and categorize chemical and hazardous wastes at customer and company sites Safely package, label, and prepare chemical waste for transport following DOT, EPA, and OSHA rules Perform basic field tests and use SDS information to verify material classification Complete all required documentation, manifests, and inventory records accurately Operate company vehicles and equipment in compliance with safety and driving standards Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper storage of chemicals and containers Follow strict PPE and safety protocols, participating in safety meetings and drills Assist with emergency response, cleanup, and disposal projects as assigned Communicate with customers and internal teams to coordinate pickups and resolve issues Support continuous improvement in environmental compliance and operational efficiency Required Skills Chemical handling and transfer Hazardous waste management CDL operation with Haz Mat Industrial safety procedures Sampling and testing of materials Use of PPE and decontamination Forklift and material handling equipment Reading SDS and chemical labeling Basic recordkeeping and documentation Emergency spill response support
