The qualified candidate will perform hand-on synthesis of inorganic products in a safe and efficient manner.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

Schedule, set up equipment, and produce chemicals (existing items, new products, lost suppliers, takeovers or customs) and/or run analytical test. Weigh, pump/pour, transfer of chemicals and experience working with reaction vessels, distillations, filtrations, etc.​ Ensure quality, quantity, and specifications for final product. Use innovative ideas and creativity to improve procedures and processes to increase efficiency and reduce expenses. Clean up of equipment and working areas after production operation. Coordinate appropriate disposal of waste with Environmental Services personnel and complete compliance documentation. Develop competence level to train newly hired employees and/or assist in cross-training current employees. Perform miscellaneous duties and tasks as necessary. Comply and adhere to all safety and other required regulations. Cleans and keeps laboratory clean Logs in samples and documents requested information. Submits supply lists. Documents calibration/verification of instruments on defined schedule. Attend scheduled customer or company-sponsored meetings and/or training, as required Required to participate in plant check rotations and in plant safety teams.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Chemistry. Three or more years of experience in chemical manufacturing setting. Requires a strong background in inorganic chemical production. Demonstrated knowledge of inorganic chemistry and ability to use this knowledge to independently solve problems and improve procedures. Ability to source out technical information from reference library and other technical chemistry references.

This is not an analytical chemistry position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl. Employee must be able to stay on feet for eight hours. The employee must be able to communicate effectively, hear well, and have no olfactory limitations. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and ability to push and pull heavy materials to complete one's assignment. The employee may be required to lift more poundage with assistance. Must be a team player committed to working well with others.​ Work independently under limited supervision (self-management) Exemplary (regular, reliable, predictable) attendance and adherence to schedule Wet chemistry technique experience and with inorganic chemicals is a strong plus. Ability to multi-task, switch gears, and organize workload. Exemplary (regular, reliable, predictable) attendance and adherence to schedule. Pass a drug test and background check. Must be authorized to work. Must be able to pass a medical surveillance exam.
