Job Title:
Senior Formulation Scientist - Dietary Supplements (Capsules & Encapsulation)
Location:
Natural Florida (Florida, USA) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Dietary Supplement Formulation Scientist with extensive expertise in capsule formulation and encapsulation manufacturing. This is not a traditional chemistry or materials science position. We are looking for a technical expert who has successfully developed, optimized, and commercialized dietary supplement capsule formulations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with nutraceutical manufacturing, understands ingredient compatibility, powder flow characteristics, excipient selection, and can develop formulations that are scalable for commercial production while meeting cGMP requirements. Responsibilities Develop and optimize dietary supplement capsule formulations. Formulate blends containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, botanicals, probiotics, enzymes, and specialty ingredients. Evaluate ingredient compatibility, stability, moisture sensitivity, and bioavailability. Select appropriate excipients to improve flowability, compressibility, and capsule fill consistency. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues including segregation, poor flow, weight variation, and encapsulation performance. Scale formulations from laboratory batches to commercial manufacturing. Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams. Create manufacturing formulas, batch records, SOPs, and technical documentation. Support pilot runs and commercial production. Ensure compliance with FDA dietary supplement cGMP regulations (21 CFR Part 111). Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. 5+ years of direct experience formulating dietary supplements. Proven experience with hard-shell capsule formulation and encapsulation manufacturing.
Strong understanding of:
Powder blending Encapsulation processes Excipient selection Flow agents Ingredient stability Moisture management Scale-up manufacturing Experience working in FDA-regulated dietary supplement manufacturing. Knowledge of cGMP and quality systems. Excellent problem-solving and technical documentation skills. Preferred Experience Experience developing sports nutrition, longevity, cognitive health, or specialty nutraceutical products. Experience working with contract manufacturers (CMOs). Familiarity with ingredient sourcing and specification review. Experience supporting pilot batches and commercial production. Please Do Not Apply If Your experience is primarily in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, materials science, polymers, petrochemicals, or academic laboratory research. You have no direct experience developing and manufacturing dietary supplement capsule products. Preferred Background Candidates with experience as a Formulation Scientist, Encapsulation Specialist, or or Supplement Manufacturing Scientist are strongly encouraged to apply.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
