Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced R D Scientist to lead formulation and compounding activities for pharmaceutical and related food/flavor applications. The role focuses on developing robust, scalable formulations, optimizing flavor and excipient interactions, ensuring regulatory compliance (FDA, USP), and supporting stability, analytical method development, and technology transfer to manufacturing. The ideal candidate combines handson laboratory skills with strong regulatory knowledge and a demonstrated track record of translating lab results into manufacturable products.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and execute R D projects to develop and optimize pharmaceutical formulations and compounded products, including solid, semisolid and liquid dosage forms.

Develop and refine flavor systems and excipient combinations to meet sensory, stability, and regulatory requirements for drug and foodadjacent products.

Perform benchscale compounding, pilotscale trials and support scaleup and technology transfer to manufacturing partners.

Plan and carry out stability studies, dissolution testing, and other performance evaluations in accordance with USP and internal protocols.

Develop, validate and troubleshoot analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, dissolution) in collaboration with analytical teams to support formulation development and release testing.

Ensure all laboratory work and documentation comply with c
GMP, FDA
regulations, USP standards and internal quality systems; prepare technical reports, study protocols and regulatory documentation.

Collaborate crossfunctionally with Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Process Engineering, Commercial and Supply Chain to align formulation strategy with business and regulatory objectives.

Identify root causes of formulation failures and implement corrective actions; lead continuous improvement and costreduction initiatives related to formulations and processes.

Present data, recommendations and project status to stakeholders and contribute to intellectual property filings and scientific publications as appropriate.

Mentor junior scientists and technicians; promote a safe, compliant and productive laboratory environment.

QualificationsMS or PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or related discipline; BS with significant relevant experience will be considered.3+ years (MS) or 1+ years (PhD) of hands on experience in formulation development, compounding or flavor/formulation work in industry or equivalent R D environment.

Demonstrated experience with formulation design for oral, topical or liquid dosage forms and experience in scaleup and technology transfer.

Knowledge of FDA regulations, USP monographs and cGMP requirements as applied to formulation, compounding and stability testing.

Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, dissolution, particle size analysis and assay validation.

Familiarity with flavor chemistry and formulation challenges when combining active pharmaceutical ingredients with flavoring agents and food matrices.

Strong problemsolving skills, experimental design, statistical analysis (e.g., DOE) and ability to interpret complex data.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a track record of preparing technical reports and regulatory documentation.

Demonstrated ability to work crossfunctionally in small teams, manage multiple projects and mentor junior staff.

Prior experience in regulated industries (pharmaceuticals, food, nutraceuticals) and knowledge of USP/FDA expectations for compounded products preferred.
