This position offers a challenging, hands-on lab environment, and exposure to the full product lifecycle from concept to shelf.
Responsibilities:
Leading formulation development of cosmetic/personal care products from concept through commercialization, owning projects end-to-end with minimal oversight Partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Product Development to translate customer briefs and market trends into technically sound, differentiated product concepts Serving as technical lead on batching and scale-up activities, including cGMP product qualifications, ensuring smooth transfer from bench to pilot to full production Designing and evaluating test protocols to confirm product conformance, stability, and performance claims Overseeing stability testing programs — protocol design, monitoring, data interpretation, and reporting Writing protocols, performing data analysis, and authoring technical reports Maintaining rigorous R D documentation and batch/stability records in a standardized, accurate, traceable, and timely manner, in line with cGMP standards Owning regulatory compliance for product categories (FDA OTC monograph, ISO, etc.), staying current on evolving requirements Representing R D in customer-facing and raw material vendor meetings, contributing technical expertise to commercial conversations Providing technical direction and mentorship to junior chemists, formulators, and manufacturing/support staff
Qualifications:
MS or BS in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biochemistry, or a related field 5+ years of formulation experience in personal care, cosmetics, or a related industry (pharma topical/dermal formulation background also applicable) Hands-on manufacturing/scale-up experience, ideally including cGMP environments Familiarity with stability testing protocols and product conformance testing A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams Experience in a personal care or cosmetics lab environment strongly preferred
