Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary:
The Chemistry Section Manager is responsible for the 24 hour function of a specific section of the Laboratory. The Manager is responsible for processing specimens in the chemistry section and is considered an expert in the area. Provides the mechanism for ensuring accurate test results, issue resolution, orientation, and ongoing competency of personnel. The Chemistry Section Manager promotes staff development and acts as the lab resource person for the section. Promotes professional collaboration at all levels. Maintains active communication and strengthens collaborative relationships among the pathologists, medical staff, nursing units, the chemistry section, and other lab staff.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or related field Minimum Experience Required clinical internship in a MT/MLS approved program 5 years experience as a Medical Technologist Two years experience in Chemistry preferred Two years supervisory experience preferred Required Registration/License/Certification MT(ASCP) OR MLS(ASCP)
