Contexte et environnement This position reports directly to the SM/Environmental Laboratory Supervisor and works closely with the Environmental Group in carrying out the duties of the job. Completes reporting requirements as required per the SM/Environmental Lab Supervisor and/or the Environmental Lab Group Leader May serve as upgrade for SM/Environmental Lab Supervisor in their absence and back up for SM Process Lab Specialist in their absence. Perform assignments in a manner consistent with established procedures, and directly responsible for personal safety, as well as the safety of their co-workers. Will participate on problem solving teams such as incident investigation, safety committees, process hazard analysis, continuous improvement, turnaround preparation, and other loss control related projects. Actively support all policies and management systems to foster continual improvement, conformance with legal and other requirements to which the organization subscribes the prevention of pollution and customer satisfaction Activités Assists the SM/Environmental Lab Supervisor with the maintenance and upkeep of lab instrumentation and equipment in the Environmental Lab. Oversees the work activities and assists with training of the Environmental Lab Technicians. Provides support to Technical and other departments in the science of chemistry as it relates to plant operations, wastewater treatment, and environmental control. Maintains the calibration and standards programs for the lab equipment. Coordinates, performs or assists with special projects as directed. Responsible for performance of scheduled routine analyses, housekeeping, and other activities or special projects as directed. Develop and implement test methods and standards of performance necessary to meet Laboratory objectives (including
ISO 9001
). Responsible for maintaining laboratory instruments in working order. Includes being knowledgeable in the operation, troubleshooting, and upkeep of all laboratory instruments and equipment; ensures that preventive maintenance, calibration and quality checks are conducted on lab equipment as scheduled or when needed as indicated by QC problems. Responsible for assigned physical and chemical tests on ground water, benzene waste, wastewater discharges and permit samples including established documentation procedures. Responsible for updating and maintaining lab procedures in the Environmental Lab Manual. Profil du candidat This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related technical degree. Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience required. Good supervisory skills, computer skills, and quality control skills. Lab instrument knowledge and maintenance skills are essential. As primary for oversight of lab operations, would be on call 24 hours per day.
