The successful candidate will design, execute, and interpret cell-based studies using primary immune cells and relevant assay systems to evaluate biologic drug candidates, characterize their mechanism of action, and address biological questions. Key Responsibilities:
Play a key role in the development of new biologic drugs for Immunotherapy and Immunology; contributing from early concept generation through candidate advancement Independently design, execute, analyze, and interpret in vitro/ex vivo studies to characterize drug candidates and their mechanisms of action Develop, optimize and troubleshoot complex immune cell-based functional assays using primary immune cells (human and mouse), tumor cell lines, reporter systems, and co-culture models Provide subject matter expertise in multicolor flow cytometry, including panel design and optimization, data analysis, and troubleshooting Critically analyze and integrate experimental data across studies, identify key scientific gaps, draw clear conclusions, and provide independent data-driven recommendations for program direction and next steps Take ownership of assigned research areas or project workstreams, establishing experimental priorities and driving studies to completion with a high degree of scientific independence Maintain awareness of relevant scientific literature, emerging technologies, competitive programs, and industry developments, and apply these insights to therapeutic and experimental strategy Collaborate cross-functionally with discovery, translational and project teams to ensure data-driven decision-making and timely progression of programs. Contribute to scientific reports, presentations, and project updates, and effectively communicate findings to cross-functional teams Maintain accurate documentation of experimental activities and ensure compliance with applicable laboratory standards and data integrity practices.Qualifications:
D. in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell biology, Immuno-oncology, or a related scientific field, with 12+ years of relevant research experience, including at least 4+ years in a biotech or pharmaceutical R D environment Demonstrated experience in the discovery and/or preclinical development of biologic therapeutics, preferably in immunology or immuno-oncology Strong track record of functioning as an independent scientist, including developing experimental strategies, designing complex studies, troubleshooting technical challenges, interpreting multidisciplinary datasets, and recommending next steps Strong, hands-on expertise in Immunotherapy and Immunology, with the ability to independently evaluate and apply new concepts and immunoassays Demonstrated experience designing, executing, and interpreting functional assays using primary immune cells, including multi-parameter flow cytometry, cytokine profiling (ELISA, MSD, Luminex, or equivalent), immune activation, proliferation, and cytotoxicity assays. Extensive hands-on experience with flow cytometry panel design, optimization, and data analysis; spectral flow cytometry experience is desirable Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and drive projects forward in a fast-paced biotech environment Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex data clearly to scientific and cross-functional audiences Strong troubleshooting, organization, data analysis, and problem-solving skills Highly collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute ideas, work across teams, and mentor junior team members as needed ModeX Therapeutics is anEqual Opportunity Employer Requirements:
