Job Description

Assistant Chemist I, Analytical Lab Abbott Laboratories seeks an Assistant Chemist I for its Analytical Lab on 2nd shift (Tues-Sat). In this on-site role, you will perform routine analytical testing on raw materials and finished products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy. You'll ensure accurate, compliant data under GMP/GLP, maintain instruments, and document results to support product quality and regulatory requirements. Perform routine analytical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products following established methods Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, and spectrophotometers Document test procedures, observations, and results in compliance with GMP/GLP and Abbott quality standards Assist in investigating out-of-specification or atypical results and support root-cause analysis Follow strict safety, housekeeping, and chemical handling procedures in the analytical laboratory Collaborate with chemists, quality, and production teams to meet testing timelines for 2nd shift operations Participate in method verification, equipment qualification, and continuous improvement activities Support inventory management of reagents, standards, and lab supplies Analytical chemistry HPLC operation GC operation Spectroscopy techniques Wet chemistry techniques GMP/GLP compliance Laboratory safety Instrument calibration and maintenance Scientific documentation and data integrity LIMS or electronic lab systems Root cause analysis support Time management for shift-based work Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Experience with HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, or similar analytical techniques Familiarity with GMP/GLP or other regulated lab environments Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and wet chemistry techniques Understanding of laboratory safety and chemical handling procedures Basic proficiency with LIMS or electronic data systems Strong documentation skills for regulated environments
