Doctor of Philosophy Chemistry Full Job Description Position Overview :
We are seeking a Senior Scientist I or II with extensive analytical experience to lead complex research projects and laboratory analyses, drive the design and execution of multi-step organic synthesis and apply necessary analytical techniques, and provide technical mentorship to junior scientific staff. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in synthetic organic and analytical chemistry, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to effectively lead and support a scientific team.
Responsibilities :
Design and conduct advanced, multi-step syntheses of target molecules. Optimize reagents, catalysts, and solvents to maximize yield, purity, and cost-effectiveness. Utilize analytical instrumentation, including NMR, LC/MS, GC/MS, HPLC, ICPMS, CHN, KF, and TGA, to evaluate purity and characterize materials. Lead and mentor the scientific team in technical practices and instrumentation. Conduct patent and literature reviews to support programs on hand. Maintain precise laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports and presentations. Ensure laboratory activities adhere to applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Develop and transfer analytical test methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. Interpret complex analytical data, evaluate findings against specifications, prepare technical reports, and trend data to support quality and R D activities. Install, operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex laboratory equipment. Author and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), analytical testing procedures, and technical documentation. Communicate with vendors regarding the implementation of newly acquired laboratory instruments. Manage multiple projects and priorities while working independently and collaboratively across the organization.
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline with some industrial experience. Relevant experience in synthetic organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, process development, or pharmaceutical R D. Peptide chemistry experience preferred. Strong expertise in complex organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and impurity control. Strong proficiency in interpreting complex analytical data. Experience working in a laboratory team setting. Experience with laboratory instrumentation, equipment management, and troubleshooting. Excellent project management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks independently. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills across staff and management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ChemDraw, scientific databases, and analytical interpretation software.
