This position provides students with valuable hands-on laboratory experience while helping ensure chemistry labs operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established laboratory safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, glassware, and supplies for laboratory classes. Set up and clean up chemistry laboratories before and after lab sessions. Clean, organize, and properly store laboratory equipment, glassware, and chemicals. Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify faculty when materials need to be replenished. Assist faculty with routine laboratory preparation and basic laboratory procedures. Follow all chemical hygiene and laboratory safety procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of chemical waste. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Chemistry Department.
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently. Dependable, punctual, and organized. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing laboratory tasks.
