This position is responsible for the development of innovative coating technologies and next-generation paint products. Working within the Technology & Innovation Laboratory, this position is responsible for formulating, testing, and evaluating advanced coating systems and raw materials. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring solutions from concept through commercialization. This role requires a strong foundation in chemistry, creativity in problem-solving, and a passion for scientific excellence. Work in cross-functional teams to develop new coatings technologies and evaluate new polymers Design and execute experiments for paints and coatings formulations and testing to meet targeted objectives Document and summarize experimental results in electronic lab notebooks Analyze data, report results, and recommend next steps Use analytical tools to solve problems and find solutions Participate in plant scale ups Collaborate with Procurement for evaluating new and alternate materials Manage raw materials for the lab Maintain lab equipment and shared work space Other duties as assigned BS in Chemistry or related field Two or more years of working experience in a chemistry lab Knowledge of paint, coatings, and related raw materials Efficient at summarizing technical data and presenting results Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously Self-starter and ability to take initiative and drive toward results Attention to detail and scientific rigor Comfortable working in teams, sharing data, and communicating effectively Extremely organized
Minimum Requirements:
Physical effort and dexterity : This role can entail some amount of lifting (40-50lbs) Environment and scheduling : This role can involve scale-ups at manufacturing facilities that may be hot or cold depending on the time of year. In these instances, more noise may be encountered (noise protection is supplied). Chemicals are used in the polymer making process (proper PPE is outlined and supplied). Travel is involved as needed to attend scale-ups
