We work with customers to develop innovative cosmetic and OTC products and bring them from formulation through manufacturing. We are looking for a Sr. Chemist to join our R D team. This role is responsible for developing new formulations for DLab customers and overseeing the development of innovative cosmetic and OTC products. The position requires strong technical expertise, creativity, leadership, and excellent communication skills, including the ability to work directly with customers and collaborate with internal teams. This is a fully onsite role. Key Responsibilities Complete tasks as directed and adhere to established objectives and standards. Independently complete product development projects from inception through completion and published formula, while meeting established launch deadlines and working with the supervisor as needed. Investigate and research problems and issues that arise during product development. Develop, refine, and shade match formulas, as needed, across a variety of product categories, including: Foundations, pressed and loose powders, lipsticks, mascara and eyeliners, OTC products, skincare and surfactant-based systems. Train, support, and mentor Chemists, Junior Chemists, and Technicians in their current roles and help guide their professional growth. Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Oversee and review laboratory personnel formulas and laboratory notebooks for accuracy and completeness. Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in proactively identifying and proposing solutions to issues that may arise during product development or transfer to manufacturing. Ensure product stability and resolve stability issues. Ensure formulations meet company and customer standards, including prohibited lists and country-specific compliance requirements. Ensure formulations meet regulatory requirements for OTC and cosmetic products. Utilize current formulation software, including Good Face Project, and coach others in its use, as well as other software used by the company. Assist Chemists with technical questions and challenges. Provide guidance on writing detailed scale-up processes. Oversee and ensure complete and accurate information is provided to the Tech Transfer/Scale-Up group for each Chemist. Facilitate and guide discussions with the Tech Transfer Team to address questions and issues related to additional scale-up. Work with the R D Project Manager to manage assigned projects. Interface directly with customers. Attend Sales/R D meetings to align on project goals and timelines. What We're Looking For The successful candidate will bring strong formulation and technical expertise, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with both internal teams and customers. We are looking for someone who: 5+ years of experience Comfortable training, mentoring, and supporting Chemists, Junior Chemists, and Technicians. Able to effectively manage multiple projects and timelines. Technical knowledge and experience in cosmetic and/or OTC formulation. Detail-oriented, particularly when reviewing formulas, laboratory notebooks, and technical information. Demonstrate creativity and is resourceful in identifying solutions to product development challenges. Able to provide technical guidance and support to other members of the R D team. Comfortable working independently and managing projects from development through published formula. A strong communicator who can work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
