- Metabolomics to join a growing international life sciences organization in New York.
This is a hands-on laboratory position for an experienced scientist with a strong background in targeted metabolomics, LC-MS/MS, lipidomics, and/or quantitative small-molecule analysis. This position will support projects from initial sample preparation and method development through validation, data analysis, and final reporting. The Senior Scientist will also work directly with sophisticated LC-MS instrumentation, troubleshoot technical issues, collaborate with scientific teams, and provide guidance to junior scientists. Responsibilities Lead and support LC-MS metabolomics and lipidomics workflows, including sample preparation, method development, validation, data collection, analysis, and technical reporting. Develop, optimize, and validate
LC-MS/MS
methods for targeted metabolomics, lipidomics, and small-molecule analysis. Prepare and analyze biological samples using techniques such as protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), and solid-phase extraction (SPE). Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC and mass spectrometry systems, including triple quadrupole and high-resolution mass spectrometers. Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data, including metabolite identification, spectral analysis, and small-molecule quantification. Support instrument validation, routine maintenance, and management of critical laboratory standards and reagents. Prepare and follow SOPs, validation protocols, GLP-compliant documentation, and technical reports. Collaborate with scientists and project teams to plan studies, develop analytical strategies, troubleshoot technical challenges, and communicate project timelines and results. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists. Stay current with developments in metabolomics and lipidomics methods, instrumentation, software, and analytical technologies. Professional proficiency in Chinese is required, as Chinese will be used for day-to-day work. What We're Looking For PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related life sciences field with 2+ years of relevant professional experience following completion of the PhD; OR a Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant professional experience. Professional proficiency in Chinese is required, as Chinese will be used for day-to-day work. Strong hands-on experience with targeted metabolomics and LC-MS method development, validation, and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience operating LC-MS/MS and mass spectrometry instrumentation. Experience with metabolite identification, spectral analysis, and quantitative small-molecule analysis. Experience with mass spectrometry platforms such as
SCIEX QTRAP 6500
series, Thermo Q Exactive Plus, triple quadrupole systems, or comparable instrumentation. Hands-on experience preparing biological samples using protein precipitation, LLE, SPE, or similar sample-preparation techniques. Experience with LC separation methods, including reversed-phase chromatography and HILIC. Knowledge of LC-MS assay validation guidelines and GLP-compliant documentation requirements. Experience with mass spectrometry data-processing systems and the ability to independently analyze and interpret scientific data. Strong scientific communication, documentation, and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Experience with GLP, pharmaceutical, or regulated bioanalytical laboratory environments is highly valued. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are available for qualified candidates.
