Chemist - R&D (Aerospace Materials)
Location:
Kent, Ohio Type:
Full-time on-site We're seeking an experienced Chemist to join our R&D team developing next-generation decorative laminates, thermoplastic films, and non-textile flooring for aircraft interiors. This hands-on role drives polymer formulation, testing, and scale-up, turning innovative ideas into materials that meet OEM and
FAA/EASA
standards. What You'll Do Develop, test, and evaluate new polymers and formulations to support product innovation Collaborate with engineers, chemists, and designers to integrate materials and processes Support development of extrusion, lamination, thermoforming, and coating processes Perform bench-scale experiments and assist with pilot-scale scale-up Analyze test samples and generate clear, actionable reports Maintain lab processes, test methods, chemical inventory, and safety standards Coordinate lab priorities, prep, and testing activities Evaluate lab equipment and support capital improvement projects Stay current on polymer and materials science advances Occasionally support off-shift research or production trials What We're Looking For 5-10 years' experience in polymer science or chemical R&D in a manufacturing environment Hands-on lab experience with formulation, testing, and polymer synthesis Experience scaling materials from lab to pilot plant Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field (Graduate research can count toward experience) Aerospace, flame/smoke/toxicity (FST), or regulated materials experience is a plus Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge aerospace materials High-impact, hands-on role in a collaborative R&D environment Opportunity to see your work influence real-world products Apply today if you're excited about hands-on polymer R&D in a manufacturing-driven environment.
