IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.
Position Description:

The intern will assist in numerous assigned projects that may include cataloging evidence, chemicals, or other property for storage or disposal; observe evidence collection and examination in various disciplines within the lab setting or in the field; participate in various training exercise, classes, or other laboratory projects and activities as assigned. This opportunity may assist lab staff in evaluating case information, or other data needed for strategic planning. Observation of examiners in various disciplines to include firearms analysis, biology, fingerprint, or trace analysis is likely.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions. Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
