Analytical Chemist I Aegis Sciences Corp - 3.3 Nashville, TN Job Details Full-time 1 hour ago Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description The Analytical Chemist I is responsible for maintaining and for operating a wide range of laboratory equipment in order to prepare samples, run tests, and acquire and review data. He or she will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining quality of the samples, batches, reagents, and chemicals used. He or she will adhere to all standard operating procedures to perform testing, and will monitor instrumentation to maximize utility, and confirm and report findings for clients within the allotted turnaround time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare aliquots for analysis via extraction techniques as directed in Standard Operating Procedures, including proper QC requirements and correct batch sequence, including: Liquid-liquid extraction Solid-phase extraction Supported liquid extraction Dilute & Shoot Load and unload samples on assigned instruments verifying proper 'Chain of Custody,' batch documentation, and analysis method Monitor chromatography and other sample acceptance criteria during sample analysis. Troubleshoot results and instrument conditions not meeting acceptance criteria prior to releasing results to final certification. Perform reinjections, in-vial dilutions, and other actions as necessary to improve the quality of sample results Perform accurate and efficient analysis and review on LC/MS/MS, GC/MS and other data in accordance with established criteria Operate, document and perform maintenance and troubleshooting as needed for laboratory instruments, including: Volatiles Headspace GC/FID instruments

Analytical Balance Centrifuge/Shaker/pH Meter Automated extraction instruments Maintain accurate batch documentation through positive specimen identification via the use of barcodes and 'Chain of Custody' procedures Verify that Quality Control, reagent lots, and small equipment maintenance are correct and within expiration; Verify appropriate Quality Control material is present with batch and meets acceptance criteria Ensure Quality Control methods are deployed to ensure accurate reporting Utilize software and technology (Horizon, NuGenesis, Analyst, Chemstation, MultiQuant, Aria) Monitor, prioritize, and complete batches noted on daily backlog Comply with all team and laboratory safety and quality procedures and requirements Notify Shipping/Receiving/QC Departments of low stock and/or needed supplies Communicate any instrumentation, equipment, or process issues to a member of Lab Leadership and the appropriate team Participate in process improvements, including process definition, measurement analysis, and implementation of controls Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals Participate in data collection efforts within the laboratory Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill Communicate with coworkers, clients, vendors, and visitors professionally and respectfully Ensure a tidy/clean workspace at all times Other duties as required and assigned
A Successful Candidate Must Possess:
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced degree in Chemistry or related field (with a minimum of 16 hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences coursework including at least 8 hours of general chemistry and/or upper level chemistry) required Previous laboratory experience with experimental design and acid-base chemistry strongly preferred
