This role focuses on combining existing and emerging ingredients to create dietary supplement products that deliver targeted functional benefits while meeting expectations for taste, texture, consistency, stability, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate will understand how ingredients interact in real-world finished goods and will be skilled in formulating products across liquids, tablets, capsules, powders, and stick packs. This position requires close collaboration with product development, sourcing, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to turn product concepts into scalable, consumer-ready formulations. Responsibilities
- Formulate dietary supplement products by combining existing, new, and innovative ingredients to achieve desired functional outcomes, consumer benefits, and product positioning.
- Develop and optimize formulations for liquids, tablets, capsules, powders, stick packs, and other nutraceutical delivery formats.
- Evaluate ingredient compatibility, dose feasibility, flavor impact, texture, flow, compression, encapsulation, solubility, stability, and overall product performance.
- Create formulations that balance efficacy, taste, consistency, mouthfeel, physical form, cost targets, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Work with flavors, sweeteners, acids, colors, excipients, binders, flow agents, and other functional components to improve sensory appeal and production performance.
- Prepare bench samples, conduct iterative formulation trials, document results, and recommend adjustments based on sensory, physical, analytical, and manufacturing feedback.
- Collaborate with sourcing and suppliers to evaluate ingredient options, technical documentation, sample materials, and alternative ingredients for performance, cost, and availability.
- Partner with quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to ensure formulas are compliant, scalable, and suitable for commercial production under applicable dietary supplement GMP requirements.
- Maintain organized formula records, specifications, trial notes, ingredient rationale, and development documentation from concept through commercialization. Experience
- Experience formulating dietary supplements, functional foods, powders, beverages, capsules, tablets, or related consumer health products. 3-10 years' experience desired.
- Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, compatibility, taste masking, flavor systems, texture, powder flow, compression, encapsulation, and product stability.
- Hands-on experience developing or improving products in formats such as tablets, capsules, stick packs, sachets, and blended powders.
- Ability to translate product goals, health benefit targets, label claims, dosage requirements, and customer expectations into practical finished formulas.
- Familiarity with dietary supplement regulations, GMP expectations, ingredient documentation, specifications, and commercialization processes.
- Experience working with suppliers, contract manufacturers, flavor houses, testing labs, and internal cross-functional teams is preferred.
- Excellent organization, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple formulation projects at different stages of development.
