Senior Wood Scientist-Chemist Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Senior Wood Scientist-Chemist to drive innovation in sustainable, high-performance wood products for our North American manufacturing operations. In this role, you will lead R D on wood chemistry, adhesives, and product durability, designing and executing experiments, analyzing performance data, and translating lab insights into mill-ready solutions. You'll collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve product reliability, optimize processes, and support new product introductions. You will mentor junior scientists, uphold rigorous safety and lab standards, and contribute to Weyerhaeuser's mission of sustainable forestry and responsible materials innovation. Lead R D on wood chemistry, adhesives, and product performance for engineered wood products. Design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments and pilot studies. Characterize wood and composite materials using mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing. Translate lab findings into scalable, mill-ready manufacturing solutions. Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize product performance and processes. Support new product development from concept through commercialization. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards in lab and plant trials. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for technical and business stakeholders. Mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and innovation. Contribute to long-term R D roadmap aligned with sustainability and business objectives.
