Position Objective / Job Description Responsible for ensuring excellence in laboratory quality control processes, with a focus on paper analysis, stock preparation, inks, and additives. Serves as a technical reference, providing support to production areas and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes. Conducts critical analysis of pulp quality data provided by third-party suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical requirements. Provides indirect leadership to laboratory personnel, promoting technical alignment and best practices. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and validate laboratory analyses of paper, stock preparation, inks, and additives, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards. Work directly with suppliers to address issues related to the quality of incoming materials, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and resolving identified deviations. Perform critical analysis of pulp quality data provided by suppliers, evaluating consistency, compliance, and impact on the production process. Develop and review quality control procedures, ensuring traceability and reliability of results. Provide technical support to production areas in resolving quality deviations and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Monitor quality indicators and propose improvements to laboratory and production processes. Interface with departments such as Production, R D, Engineering, and Environmental Health & Safety to ensure technical and operational alignment. Participate in internal and external audits, contributing evidence and action plans. Promote technical training and the dissemination of best practices among laboratory personnel, even without direct supervisory responsibility. Monitor and validate the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Monitor the performance of online process measurement equipment, including refining, fiber consistency, pH, and other critical parameters, ensuring proper calibration, data validation, and the reliability of information used for process control. Conduct variability and repeatability studies of analyses, ensuring the robustness of applied methods. Request and arrange the acquisition of official ABNT standards. Participate in the development and drafting of quality-related procedures. Manage quality certificates for products and incoming raw materials. Follow Ahlstrom manufacturing, hygiene, and operational processes, procedures, and policies, as applicable to the areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each paper grade. Qualifications Required Professional Experience Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Pulp and Paper Engineering, or related fields. Proven experience in quality control within paper or pulp manufacturing facilities. Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques applied to pulp, paper, inks, and additives. Familiarity with technical standards and regulations (ABNT, TAPPI, ISO, FDA, GMP, ANVISA Food Contact Regulations, etc.) and quality management tools. Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in statistical tools and methodologies. Minimum Formal Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Chemistry Required Competencies Essential Competencies Intermediate English proficiency.
