Job Description

The Vacancy This position is responsible for overseeing the functions of an analytical test department. This includes, but is not limited to, the generation and reporting of analytical data, and the prioritizing of sample load in the department. In addition to performing these functions, the employee maintains on time delivery and test requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows and participates in all company safety requirements, policies, and related documentation Follows all department/laboratory work instructions, including maintaining current training logs and completed competency evaluations. Establishes sample flow, test priority, production totals and ensures delivery times are met. Performs analytical analyses on samples of varying matrices, verifies accuracy and completeness of in-progress paperwork, enters test data and generates analytical reports, verifies final reports and accuracy and analytical data before submission. Installs, calibrates, repairs and maintains department equipment including providing technical and trouble-shooting support for testing and equipment maintenance. Provides technical support on the interpretation, recommendations, and guidelines for analytical data. Ensures adherence to applicable ASTM, ISO, or EPA test procedures and protocols and making necessary modifications for the analysis of difficult sample matrices. Maintains and adheres to waste disposal operating procedures Provides clients with information on sample status and resolving client inquiries, requests and problems. Delivers results by phone, fax, or E-mail when authorized. Provides 24 hour support when designated On-Call. Provides training to laboratory personnel in department. Supports the maintenance, housekeeping, and organization of the laboratory. Performs other duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
A BS or BA degree in chemistry, biology, or related field and/or 4 or more years experience with the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential responsibilities listed above. Experience with a range of analytic testing equipment and procedures or a combination of relevant education and work experience sufficient to expect fulfillment of the position's responsibilities within a brief period of employment. Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail while completing tasks. Must be willing to take on added responsibilities and challenges to grow within the role. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to be able to compile from and present to all levels of client's organization. Excellent organization skills required with the ability to coordinate tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Excellent verbal and effective writing skills. Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and data base management.
