Summary An oncologist who specializes in bone marrow transplant or stem cell transplant for the treatment of people whose bone marrow or stem cells have been damaged by disease or the treatment of a disease or as a way to have the donor's immune system fight a blood disorder such as leukemia.

For hematology, an internist with additional training who specializes in diseases of the blood, spleen and lymph glands. This specialist treats conditions such as anemia, clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, leukemia and lymphoma.

For medical oncology, an internist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancer and other benign and malignant tumors. This specialist decides on and administers chemotherapy for malignancy as well as consults with surgeons and radiotherapists on other treatments for cancer.

Practices medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center and Memorial Healthcare System. Provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group and Memorial Healthcare System, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the Moffitt institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. The position may span the clinical and research enterprise, and supports patient care, research, and education.

Research, publishing, and teaching are key components of the program, and part of annual evaluation and incentive. Myeloid Leukemia (AML and MDS), lymphoma, and myeloma are the main disease sites seen at Malignant Hematology and Cellular Therapy (MHCT), as well as HCT and CAR-T. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Pathology with certificates of special qualification in hematology and/or medical oncology.
