Position Overview Robert Medical Research is seeking a Florida-licensed Rheumatologist (MD/DO) interested in serving as a Principal Investigator (PI) for clinical trials involving rheumatologic, inflammatory, and autoimmune conditions. Potential research areas may include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), ankylosing spondylitis/axial spondyloarthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, and other inflammatory or autoimmune conditions , depending on available clinical trial opportunities. This is a flexible, part-time clinical research opportunity designed to complement the physician's existing medical practice . The position is structured to minimize disruption to the physician's current clinical responsibilities. Our experienced clinical research team manages day-to-day study operations, including patient recruitment, study coordination, regulatory documentation, scheduling, data collection, and sponsor/CRO communication. This allows the Principal Investigator to focus primarily on medical oversight, participant safety, and study responsibilities requiring physician involvement. Principal Investigator Responsibilities Provide medical oversight for assigned rheumatology clinical trials Evaluate participant eligibility and relevant medical history as required by protocol Provide appropriate clinical assessment and medical decision-making Monitor participant safety throughout study participation Review adverse events, laboratory results, concomitant medications, and other clinically significant findings Oversee protocol-required rheumatologic assessments and procedures when applicable Ensure appropriate execution of clinical trial protocols Delegate study-related responsibilities to appropriately qualified research personnel Review and sign study documentation as required Collaborate with research coordinators, sponsors, CROs, monitors, and regulatory personnel Ensure study conduct complies with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), applicable regulatory requirements, and study protocols Qualifications MD or DO specializing in Rheumatology Active and unrestricted Florida medical license Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology preferred Currently practicing or experienced in the evaluation and management of rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions Strong professional, communication, and clinical decision-making skills Ability to provide appropriate physician oversight for clinical research activities Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a practicing Rheumatologist interested in incorporating clinical research into their professional activities while continuing to maintain their existing medical practice. This opportunity is particularly suited for a physician interested in participating in innovative rheumatology and autoimmune clinical trials, contributing to the development of new therapies, and creating an additional professional revenue stream without committing to a traditional full-time research position. Previous Principal Investigator experience is preferred but not required. Rheumatologists who are new to clinical research are welcome to apply.
