A Clinical Investigator works on a clinical trial, and is responsible for ensuring that an investigation is conducted according to the signed investigator statement, the investigational plan, and applicable regulations; for protecting the rights, safety, and welfare of subjects under the investigator's care; and for the control of drugs under investigation. The Clinical Investigator must also meet requirements set forth by the FDA, EMA or other regulatory body. The qualifications must be outlined in a current resume and readily available for auditors.

Job Description Summary The Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a tenure-track professor in the research area of substance use disorders. Major topics of research interest include systems biology, opioid signaling, chronic pain, in vivo brain recordings, and neuronal circuit plasticity in preclinical models of pain and drug misuse. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with appropriate research expertise and are expected to possess an outstanding record of high-quality publications, a strong potential to secure extramural research funding, and a clear commitment to promoting workplace diversity in all its forms. The Neuroscience Department consistently ranks in the top 20 in NIH awards. Successful candidates will benefit from a highly collaborative research environment and a competitive start-up package in a basic science department that contains nearly $17 million in extramural grant awards, active core facilities, and a strong commitment to faculty mentoring and collegiality.
