Smyrna, Georgia 30080 Client- Georgia Power Position Overview The Environmental Laboratory Analyst I is responsible for collecting, monitoring, and testing environmental samples to determine the presence of pollutants and contaminants. This role supports environmental compliance by analyzing air, water, soil, and wastewater samples and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong scientific foundation, experience with environmental monitoring systems, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and environmental protection. Key Responsibilities Environmental Monitoring & Testing Collect samples from air, water, soil, wastewater, and waste streams Analyze environmental samples using specialized laboratory equipment and techniques Monitor environmental systems such as: Wastewater treatment systems Air pollution control systems Waste management systems Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations Monitor permits and regulatory requirements related to operations Maintain awareness of environmental standards and reporting requirements Data Collection & Analysis Collect and analyze environmental data including air and water quality metrics Assess environmental conditions and identify trends Support performance evaluation of environmental systems Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate environmental records and compliance documentation Support regulatory reporting requirements Ensure proper permit tracking and documentation management Emergency Preparedness & Response Support environmental emergency response plans Assist with incident documentation for spills, accidents, or environmental events Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in: Chemistry Biology Microbiology Environmental Sciences OR Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Environmental Sciences Experience Experience in environmental monitoring and testing Strong understanding of environmental regulations and industrial processes Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Environmental & Regulatory Knowledge Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations Familiarity with environmental permits and compliance standards Technical Skills Proficiency with environmental monitoring equipment Experience with laboratory instruments and testing procedures Ability to use data analysis tools and environmental modeling software Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills Strong analytical thinking to interpret environmental data Ability to identify trends and recommend solutions Strong troubleshooting skills Communication Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to clearly explain compliance requirements and findings Attention to Detail Meticulous documentation and recordkeeping skills High accuracy in laboratory data and reporting Teamwork Ability to collaborate across departments and multidisciplinary teams Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance Ability to work in laboratory and industrial environments
