Manager, Environmental Reports to:
EHS Team Leader Location:
Lansing Job Summary Operating/ Managing related installations/facilities by establishing environmental accident prevention and legal compliance standards/systems, in order to minimize government regulatory response and environmental business risks. Special focus on Michigan Air Reporting (MAERS), TSCA reporting, Waste Management, Wastewater Compliance Stormwater Compliance, SARA reporting (Tier Il, TRI) and
ISO14001.
Responsibilities:
Air Permit Management Communicates with local, state and federal agencies to ensure facility is current with all regulations. Works with consultants on an as-needed basis to ensure that the activities above are executed legally and in a timely manner. Establishes an air management monitoring plan based on the current permit including a database for routine monitoring of air pollutants. Oversee the installation/permitting of new and current equipment. Chemical substance management (SARA, TSCA) Establish and maintain a chemical substance inventory and management plan. Work with Headquarters, consultants and government agencies to meet reporting requirements. Approve, maaanage Safety Data Sheets in conjunction with the Safety team and Purchasing. Environmental Reporting (Air, Chemical, Water, Waste) Communicate to departments responsible for providing data needed to complete Environmental reports. Compile data into established company database on a regular basis. Enter information into the appropriate on-line agency database prior to due date. Save evidence of timely reporting in electronic share drive. Maintain all Environmental Reports for a minimum of 5 years unless another timeframe is specified. Team Management Assist Environmental Specialists with overall management of the follow Water quality — waste water and storm water Communicate with the local agency regarding slug control, monitoring issues, and chemical usage. Respond to issues discovered through monitoring of water pollutants. Waste Management Oversee the safe management of hazardous waste. Work with the Materials Management team and the waste handlers to ensure waste management is being addressed daily. Work with vendors to ensure the companies best interest is considered in the management of all types of waste, waste streams, handling, transportation and disposal. Storm Water Management and Pollution Prevention Guide the establishment of Storm Water and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure plans. Oversee the management and permitting of the facility storm water permit Supervise the legal inspection and monitoring of water pollutants
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or related field. 10+ year of experience working in a Senior Environmental role Experience in TSCA reporting and SARA reporting. Chemistry background preferred Certifications related to environmental regulations and reporting a plus but not required. Experience in environmental for manufacturing also a plus. Collaborate with team mates to accomplish company and team goals. Maintain Environmental KPl's as necessary Participate
