Environmental Laboratory Customer Service Specialist (Open) Applications No Longer Accepted On (If no date is displayed, job is posted as open until closed): The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Laboratory Customer Service Specialist to work in our Nebraska Public Health Environmental Laboratory on a full-time basis.

Job Duties:

As the Customer Service Specialist , you will: Respond to customer requests and assemble and ship sample collection kits. Conduct minor preliminary testing procedures (pH, acidification of samples), sample custody, and sample disposal. Print sample requests, enter sample collection demographics, sort incoming samples, and deliver samples to appropriate work areas Pick up and deliver mail. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, dependable, able to organize multiple projects and enjoy working independently. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Experience performing laboratory bench procedures in a chemical environmental, microbiological, or biological laboratory OR post-high school coursework/training in laboratory bench techniques, biology, microbiology, or other biological/life sciences.

Preferred Qualifications :

A high school diploma with at least 6 months experience in customer service, or working with the public. A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and clerical skills. Knowledge of environmental testing Ability to lift containers weighing up to 50 lbs.

Valid Driver's License Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Ability to: Communicate effectively; interact with lab staff and the public Understand and follow supervisory instructions and safety policies Work with limited supervision Compose correspondence using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling Relay knowledge gained to co-workers to recognize and solve problems Act in a professional manner at all times when representing the laboratory
