An Environmental Planner or Scientist uses training and background in natural sciences to study the environment and threats to the environment. Investigates environmental problems and advises on solutions. May focus on potential environmental health risks to people, such as unsafe drinking water, or on protecting the environment and ecosystems from human activity such as development and industrial pollution.
Job Summary Sovereign Care Services is a rapidly growing agency tailored to meet the needs of families and children with autism, developmental disabilities, and behavior challenges. We believe that behavioral support should be readily available and of the highest quality. We are seeking motivated and compassionate college students for our Fall 2026 Internship Program at Sovereign Care Services, an ABA therapy and Respite Care center serving individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. This internship is sponsored by the NJ Career Accelerator Internship Grant Program (CAIGP). Summary of Responsibilities Sovereign Care Services is seeking an Afterschool Activity Specialist in our Lawrenceville, NJ center location. Under the direction of the Respite Coordinator, the Activity Specialist is responsible for supervising a group of children. The Activity Specialist establishes relationships with children and their parents while providing a safe, pleasant and caring atmosphere during afterschool. Participation in Activities of Daily Living and Leisure activities allows individuals with autism to learn skills specific to a particular activity, these skills can be applied in general settings such as home, school and work.
Duties include:
Engage participants in activities that promote the development of Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLs) and Leisure Skills. Interacting with children in an appropriate manner to ensure their dignity is upheld and provide opportunities to build self-esteem and confidence. Assist child/youth with self-care needs as necessary which may include (eating, toileting, dressing). Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & members of the multi-disciplinary team. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies Timely submit all program and certification related documents Performs other related duties as assigned Handles all behavior, and other incidents ensuring the safety of all participants utilizing crisis prevention, recognition, and intervention as needed. Ensure all agency policies are implemented and followed Complete required training in the designated timeframe Qualifications Must be currently enrolled in a New Jersey college or university (Psychology, Education, Special Ed, or related field preferred) Passion for working with children or individuals with special needs Excellent communication and teamwork skills Reliable, responsible, and punctual CPR/First Aid certification (required) Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment and maintain all HIPAA requirements Ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees and departments, maintaining collaborative professional relationships. Models exemplary employee performance through own performance, professionalism, and appropriate communication outlined within employee handbook.
