NPV has immediate openings for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner or Senior Environmental Scientist with experience in the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements and all aspects of compliance with the requirements of the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in our Melville office. Work assignments will involve management and development of technical sections for environmental impact analysis, management of technical analysis prepared by subconsultants and compilation of Draft and Final EIS documents. Ideally the candidate will have experience working directly with clients and review agencies; and experience with providing expert testimony at public hearings. Competent writing, research, organizational and analytical skills are required. This is a mid to senior level position with opportunities to work in a wide range of services to have impact and positive change on the environment as well as advance in senior management. Responsibilities Project Leadership and Management Manage environmental planning and review projects from proposal through completion. Direct multidisciplinary teams, including staff, subconsultants, and technical specialists. Establish project schedules, budgets, and staffing assignments. Prepare and review project deliverables for technical accuracy and quality. Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, municipalities, and project stakeholders. Environmental Review and Planning Prepare and oversee environmental analyses and environmental review documents under SEQRA, NEPA, and CEQR. Manage preparation of Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statements. Conduct research, data collection, and technical analysis. Prepare planning studies, policy recommendations, and regulatory analyses. Develop and review graphics, GIS mapping, figures, and presentation materials. Business Development and Client Relations Participate in proposal preparation, interviews, and marketing efforts. Identify and pursue new project opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with municipal, agency, and private-sector clients. Represent the firm at public meetings, hearings, workshops, and professional conferences. Staff Development Mentor and support junior planning and environmental staff. Assist with recruiting, training, and professional development initiatives. Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across disciplines. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Planning, Geography, Natural Resources, Ecology, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in environmental planning, environmental impact analysis, environmental review, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of project management experience. Demonstrated experience managing environmental review documents and technical studies. Strong technical writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills. Minimum of 5 years experience with SEQRA, NEPA, CEQR, or related environmental regulations. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting schedules and budgets. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public presentation experience. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while independently managing assignments. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Geography, Public Policy, or a related field. More than 10 years of professional experience. Experience serving municipal clients and review boards. AICP, CEP, CFM, CPESC, or other relevant professional certifications. Experience with GIS, mapping, and spatial analysis tools.
