Job Title:
Environmental Graphic Designer (Signage & Wayfinding Specialist)

Mid-Level Job Summary Graffix is seeking a talented Environmental Graphic Designer with a strong focus on signage and wayfinding systems. In this role, you will transform physical spaces into intuitive, branded environments. You will lead the design, documentation, and execution of comprehensive signage packages from initial concept to final fabrication. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of spatial scale, typography, architectural drafting, and material construction.
Key Responsibilities Signage Design:
Create conceptual and detailed designs for exterior identity, interior wayfinding, code compliance (ADA), and donor recognition signage.
Wayfinding Strategy:
Analyze architectural floor plans and site layouts to develop logical user journeys and sign location plans.
Technical Documentation:
Develop precise design intent packages, including dimensional drawings, material specifications, typography rules, and color schedules for fabricators.
Project Collaboration:
Partner closely with architects, interior designers, project managers, and clients to integrate graphics seamlessly into the built environment.
Fabrication Oversight:
Coordinate with sign fabricators to review shop drawings, material samples, and structural details to ensure design integrity.
Site Evaluation:
Conduct site audits, field measurements, and post-installation punch lists.
Required Skills & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience:
[3-5+] years of experience in environmental graphic design, specifically focused on architectural signage and wayfinding systems.
Software Tools:
Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling software (CAD, Revit, SketchUp, or Rhino) is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) signage guidelines, local zoning codes, and architectural scale.
Material Expertise:
Knowledge of sign fabrication processes, printing techniques, and materials (metals, acrylics, plastics, LED lighting).
Portfolio:
A strong portfolio demonstrating architectural signage projects, technical drawing sets, and spatial design layouts.
